Intelligence in Industry (AI3) SIG - AI3SIG
About the MNCC AI3 Special Interest Group
Introduction
Many technologies languish in the academia for a time before their
introduction in the commercial world. In this Internet-time world, they
are increasingly an expensive luxury. This SIG is setup to allow
interaction between research specialists in the area of Artificial
Intelligence and the industry. The domain which this SIG covers are
wide-ranging and include fields such as machine learning, evolutionary
learning, biology-inspired computing, computational intelligence,
pattern recognition, computer vision, speech recognition, natural
language processing and so on.
Mission
To bring cutting-edge research to the industry in a shorter time to
level up their competitivity world-wide.
Objectives
- To introduce advanced AI techniques and algorithms from academia
to
the industry
- To encourage the use of such technologies in aid of industry
- To aid the industry in achieving productivity returns and in
problem
solving (that perhaps have not been thought of before) through such
technologies
- To shorten the time taken from research to commecial application
- To provide skills matchmaking between academia and industry
Activities
- Talks to introduce technological concepts
- Social Meetings for social interaction
- Visits to industry to gain better understanding of industrial and
commercial processes
- Mailing List and Website to keep in contact and keep updated on
events; to allow continuous contact and communication.
