
The ASEAN OSS Training
Program 2005 Page
The Center of the
International Cooperation for Computerization (CICC), Singapore
office, together with the Malaysian National Computer
Confederation (MNCC) successfully organised and conducted the Open Source Software (OSS) Basic Train the
Trainers and
OSS Certification Programs from 14 to 20 March 2005 in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia. Altogether a total of 30
participants from ASEAN countries participated in these two
programmes. Apart from the training lectures and hands-on lab
classes, the
participants also attended a series
of experience sharing sessions with several local OSS practitioners and
advocates. The Linux Professional
Institute (LPI) 101
Examination was conducted for the participants of the OSS
Certification Program at the end of the course.
In conjunction with the main event a public seminar on "ASEAN Open
Source Software Technical Development" was held on the morning of 14
March 2005. Some 100 people attended this
seminar which featured speakers from CICC, IBM, Intel, MAMPU, MIMOS,
Novell making presentations on recent developments on OSS especially
with respect to the Asian/ASEAN region.
