CICC Scholarships in Information Technology for 2005

The Center of the International Cooperation for Computerization (CICC), Japan is offering scholarships for the following training courses to be conducted in Japan in 2005. The course details are given below as well as the application deadlines. Application forms can be obtained from the MNCC Secretariat. Applications must be submitted to the Executive Director, Gabungan Komputer Nasional Malaysia (MNCC) not later than the application deadlines stipulated below.

Course Information

C1. Open Source Software Standard System Development Course (OSD)

This course is designed to train IT engineers (system analyst / system designer) who will be in charge of network/internet systems. The course introduces the analysis, design, implementing, and management of standard OSS LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) based application systems. The matters will be discussed in the course are not limited to OSS but network related technologies as a system infrastructure. The workshop introduces an application development project in LAMP environment.

Qualification of Applicants

Applicants should:
[ General Condition ]

1) be nominated by the CICC counterpart organization, and be recommended by their employer.
2) have a university education or an equivalent level of education.
3) have a sufficient working knowledge of spoken and written English.
4) have no prior experiences of the CICC training program within the past two years.
5) have no prior experiences of any CICC training courses equivalent to this course.
6) be in good health, both physically and mentally, in order to complete the training course successfully. Pregnancy is regarded as a disqualifying condition for any participation in this training course.
7) be non-military personnel.
8) be employed in the same organization during the course period, and must be in a position where the results of the training can be put to practical use. Students are not eligible.
9) be of age between 20 and 50 when they participate in the course.

[ Condition of Technical Skills ]

1) be familiar with the operation of Linux.
2) have more than 3 years’ computer related work experience.
3) have some knowledge of computer language or script.
4) preferably have passed one of the IT engineers examinations certificated mutually by regulatory authorities between Japan and China, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar and Chinese Taipei. Please refer to the table of examinations on the page 8.

Linux Server, Linux Clients

Language of Instruction
The course will be conducted in English.

Certificate
Trainees who have successfully completed the course will be awarded a certificate issued by CICC.

C2. Open Source Software Solution Integration Course (OSI)

This course is designed to train IT engineers (system analyst / system designer) who needs to integrate an open source architecture to provide solutions. The aim of this course is to explain the various technical infra-structures, types of standards available and the integration between vendor and open source software. The course can be divided into an explanation for the standards available for data exchange between server to server and client to server. It also shows the application of the extreme Programming analysis and design methodologies. The Apache server and MySQL are used as platforms for the development. The programming language framework comprises Php. Integration with vendor based frameworks like Microsoft .NET is also discussed.
