CICC Scholarships in Information Technology for 2006 (3rd Period)

The Center of the International Cooperation for Computerization (CICC), Japan is offering scholarships for the following training course to be conducted in 2007. The course details are given below as well as the application deadlines. Application forms can be obtained from the MNCC Secretariat. Applications must be submitted to the Executive Director, Gabungan Komputer Nasional Malaysia (MNCC) not later than the application deadlines stipulated below.

CICC takes pleasure in announcing that the IT Project Management Course (PRS) to be conducted in Tokyo, Japan on 13 February 2007 to 16 March 2007, as entrusted by the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).

5. Qualification of Applicants
Applicants should :
= General Condition
1) be nominated by the CICC counterpart organization, and be recommended by their employer.
2) have university education or equivalent level of education.
3) have sufficient working knowledge of spoken and written English.
4) complete e-learning lessons on “IT Project Management Basics” before the training in Japan, according to CICC’s instructions.
5) be in good health, both physically and mentally, in order to complete the training course successfully. Pregnancy is regarded as a disqualifying condition for any participation in this training course.
6) be non-military personnel.
7) be employed in the same organization during the course period, and must be in a position where the results of the training can be put to practical use. Students are not eligible.
8) be between 20 and 40 years of age on their participation in the course.

= Condition of Technical Skills
1) have completed one of CICC’s on-site training courses of IT Project Management, or be equipped with equivalent skills of IT Project Management Basics.
2) have prior experiences in system development projects.
3) have no Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification of Project Management Institute in USA or equivalent Certifications in other countries.
4) have more than 3 years’ IT related work experience.
5) preferably have passed one of the IT engineers examinations certificated mutually by regulatory authorities between Japan and China, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Chinese Taipei and Malaysia.

7. Language of Instruction
The course will be conducted in English.

8. Certificate
Trainees who have successfully completed the course will be awarded a certificate issued by CICC.

9. Course Details

Overview
This course targets IT engineers in Asian countries who have ambition for strengthening of business partnership with Japan, and covers necessary management technique for IT projects with Japan, trends and features of Japanese IT industry.
It covers technical items of project management and practical knowledge and skill of project management using case studies in order to help trainees understand them and apply them to their business after the course.
The course also provides an opportunity to tour advanced IT corporations in Japan and learn its features, as well as exchange opinions and information with them.

Goals
Upon completion of the course, trainees should be also able to acquire practical knowledge and skill of project management, which is necessary to implement information system development projects successfully as project leader.
And trainees should be able to understand Japanese business customs, historical and social background, trends and features of Japanese IT industry, life cycle of system development, system analysis and requirement definition, proposal making, and communication with Japanese IT engineers.
