Local Community ICT Champion Award 2005

The award is to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of an individual who has actively and consistently demonstrated initiative, support, creativity, commitment and leadership to ICT and in promoting ICT among the members of the community.

This Award is aimed at supporting and accelerating the development of an information society in Malaysia, focusing on the support and commitment given by individuals within the community towards and in undertaking ICT strategies, programs and projects that will, in the long run, assist in the sustainable build up of an information society in the country, as in the following :

Actions have created long-lasting impact on the community with large number of people/ audience reached under challenging circumstances
Demonstrated a firm commitment to providing support and generating public awareness through innovative programs, comprehensive range of target audiences
Demonstrated outstanding support of ICT projects and willingness to educate self and colleagues about ICT
Outstanding contribution to ICT program. A consistent history of generous giving. This could also include a funder with a history of a number of agencies
Community ICT empowerment: generate awareness and contributed to bridging the digital gap among diverse, underserved populations through culturally competent projects, events, and /or educational materials

This Award which is worth RM 5000.00, also seeks to create greater awareness on the role of ICT in the development process within the framework of the e-community and National IT agenda.

The closing date for submission is 5 August 2005.

The Award Ceremony will be on 6 September 2005, in conjunction with the beginning of the ICT Month 2005 Malaysia at the Malaysian International Exhibition and Convention Centre (MIECC), The Mines Resort, Kuala Lumpur.
