RM5,000 - RM7,000 for a programmer (hardcore) with more than five years
experience. And to be frank, one of the developers that works under
me has a higher salary than mine.

Stop the stereotyping please.

I've interviewed one of the brightest programmers (10 years
experience). He wore well-ironed long sleeves, short and combed hair, no
facial hairs - not even a sign that he was a programmer. I thought I was
interviewing a sales/marketing person. He explained malloc/calloc
without blinking. Writing device drivers is a walk in the park for him.

I've interviewed one of brightest programmers (5 years experience).
Very neat, no fat, a very well-groomed lady, in proper make-up and dress.
She explained TCP/IP and raw socket driver without taking pit-stops.

I've worked with one of the best Java programmers. Neat, no jeans
or round-necked shirt, minimal facial hair. His loudness is
expressed in the way he type (super fast), and he worked his magic in
his Java codes.
