I have not tried installation Linux on PC partner motherboard.
Your system may not be "hanged" but very slow. GUI requires a fair amount
of computer power.
Try using text based interface instead of GUI to determined if is a Linux OS
or hardware issue.
Use ext2 instead ext3 fs. I noticed ext3 performed slower than ext2 fs.
