[ossig] MNCC-OSSIG is org OSS101 again starting this Month
Dear All,
This time MNCC-OSSIG OSS101 will be hosted by Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT)
on the 19-20 February 2003.
Followed by March/April for the Northern Region: Kedah and Penang.
MNCC-OSSIG has conducted a series of Open Source Awareness Programs in year 2002.
The most recent event was being the OSS101 Appreciation Workshop for School and NGOs in
December 2002. The workshop was well received and covered in the Star InTech (26th December 2002),
INTAN IMATEC launched (6th Jan 2003) and NSTP Computime (13th Jan 2003).
The goal of the OSS101 is to create awareness of the benefits and to promote the usage of
Open Source Software (OSS). It was designed: -
1. Organizations (incl. Gov. departments) who are interested to learn about Open Source Software and
its application in an office environment;
2. As a introductory course for those who do not have experience using Linux, but intend to pursue for Certification Courses;
3. Those who intend to evaluate the feasibility to implement Open Source Software in their organizations.
There were many enquiries about the availability of such program from other States.
Based on these enquiries and seeing the need to create more awareness about OSS,
MNCC-OSSIG is taking OSS101 nationwide.
This time OSS101 will be conducted in two parts: -
· Part 1 (Day 1 Morning) will be a free public seminar and demo of open source software with a target audience is 50 to 150;
· Part 2 (Day 1 Afternoon and Day 2) will be a paid hands-on workshop (RM 50 per pax).
Limited seats available for the Workshop.
