[ossig] What an interesting article about school life for nerds...

It's quite lengthy but interesting:

Also read the RE: link at the bottom of the article.

I wonder, was school life like as bad as it's written in the article for your guys? Or is it simply an american phenomenon? I don't remember high school (lower or upper) to be all that bad. Sure I was different but perhaps in the school I was in, smarter kids _were_ uhm...in the upper 'strata' of society since I think sports is not a big deal in Malaysian schools. I mean, sure, it sorta is but not really. Most parents when I was in school always pressured their kids to do well not necessarily in school. (say, in music or art or what-have-you). Of course, the kids who did well in school were hmm... often left alone by the other kids because they seem to think that those smarter kids are doing it right for their parents, teachers and so on and they not - perhaps a lower sense of worth?

Or perhaps, the reason I don't remember school to be that bad was the fact that I could give as good as I got? :-) Bullies didn't bully me for very long... And perhaps that's the real issue. Bullies, even groups of them, won't keep bullying if you fight back especialy if you also have a group. Unless of course, it becomes a gang-war but that's another story...
