Whatever the case, recompile a leaner kernel rather than stick with GENERIC - awful lot of junk (for me, anyway) in there but I suppose, it's most useful to get started.

Does this mean we can dynamically add new hardware without compiling the kernel? I tried to do it with sound but it didn't work...compiled the kernel driver and it worked.
Is there driver from the same code or totally different?

What was the result? Do we have bsdmodems now? If so, is there a page with more details?
