Yep, agreed

ID Software have given away the source (GPL) for all the their previous  
software when the new ones are released...wolfenstein 3D, Doom, Quake,  
Quake 2. The old stuff does not add any more value to their business  
and by giving it away they are indirectly saying, the stuff that's  
coming is revolutionary and not built upon this old stuff.
