[ossig] MySQL co-founder confirmed for August open source conference.

I just got a confirmation from David Axmark, co-founder
of MySQL,

http://www.mysql.com/company/management.html

can he present a keynote speech at the upcoming Free & Open
Source Conference 2003

http://opensource.mimos.my/fosscon2003/

MySQL is interesting from both a technical point of view
(fast database, easy to install, easy to use, rapidly
adding 'advanced' database features, works on Linux, Win,
Solaris, *BSD, MacOSX, AIX, HPUX etc, on just
about every modern CPU) and from
a business / licensing point of view (huge marketshare
*because* it's open source, dual licensing encourages
people to use it to develop open source software, but
can also be used in proprietary apps).

I hope that David Axmark can give us some insights
into how MySQL got to where it is, how they make money,
and maybe some advice for increasing commercial open source
software development here in Malaysia.

He also mentioned to me that he will talk about what
he calls the "information gap". He defines that as
the difference between "working with a technology where
you have all the information (like Free Software) or just
a tiny part (like Windows)."

For me, David's speech will be the highlight of
the conference.
