[ossig] Chinese CPU available for order now, apparently

If they do it right (price, availability) they might
get a lot of 'export' orders. Especially in this
region. Is this the beginning of the "linux platform"?

Go here:
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=10724

So far linux is like some parasite platform hitching
on the 'wintel' duopoly body. (Mostly - other
linux-running cpus are not mainstream enough - even
ppc)

There was an interesting article not too long ago. It
predicted that this is the beginning of the end for
windows as a major player. Consider:

With linux and bsd (esp. netbsd) the hardware platform
is not really an issue. Suddenly lots of hw. players
can compete for the desktop, palmtop, server etc.
sectors. IBM has seen this and is really pushing to
make PPC (from 970?) a great hw platform for linux. I
think they are eyeing the desktop and server market.
But that's just my suspicion. And then there's the
dragon.

Is this the beginning of "linux everywhere"? Something
that MS is trying (unsucessfully) to do with windows?
Interesting times ahead!
