[Fwd: RE: [Fwd: Re: [ossig] Govt ICT infrastructure]]
According to the head of iVEST software development, they encourage
the open source community to develop drivers for Linux.
Mukhsein Johari, I'm not sure if this helps with your original query.
Perhaps if you are intending to write drivers for MyKAD for Linux, you
could contact Ng Kang Siong directly if you have other technical
questions?
Good luck,
Imran

Imran,
Not sure who has been contacted by Mukhsein Johari whom I have not
met. For your information, MyKad has been designed to be read by PC/SC and
ISO7816 compliance smart card reader. This specification is spelled out by
the government. PC/SC and ISO7816 standards are in public domain. We would
encourage people to write linux pc/sc smart card reader drivers which is
currently not many. This would encourage the use of smart card reader from
multiple vendors.
As for the MyKad smart card specification, is it still in the
ownership of the government. The request should be directed to Malaysian
government.
