Seconded.  I'm forever hearing how open source can propel Malaysia as a world
leader in open source and software.  More like, we need to embrace open source
much more, to keep up with the neighbours.

I suppose, the trouble is, if you are the man-at-the-top and you hear two
proposals, one promises the earth, and one promises that things won't get any
worse, it's human nature to go with the ambitious one.


But then again, how did Taiwan become so big in semiconductors relatively quickly
(wasn't TSMC only formed in 1987?)   Surely a software industry, which is much less
capital intensive, could grow much faster than that, *if everything was done right*.
