This is the thing. We don't really need to. All they
would need is your public key. Since your MyKad IC is
closely linked to this key, it's much more difficult
to 'fake' than a simple photocopy.

Right. The tech for all the infrastructure is not
exactly 'bleeding edge' anymore. After all, how old is
openssl, tcp/ip, linux/bsd? The pieces are all there -
well, almost - we just need a concerted effort to do
it right (there's that pesky concept again!).

Erm...you shouldn't be giving your IC anyway - even if
you still do not have the new MyKad. This is a
dangerous practice. Would you give just any ol'
guard/counter your passport?!
