[ossig] Think Java's really great? Think again!
Of course, those who know me will know where I'm
coming from (my email id is a dead give-away ;-P).
However there are some real gains to be had in using
python. I think the python community has really taken
python in totally wild directions that GvR never
thought to do. And that demonstrates the great culture
of open source, really.

excerpt:
----------------------------------
What hundreds of millions of dollars of commercial
effort (like Java)
couldn't accomplish, the open source movement has made
happen. It
all boils down to designing the right C-based
libraries/APIs (and
having scripting and VHLL bindings to them).
----------------------------------
Now we need to get rid of the GIL (global interpreter
lock) which prevents python programs from running
efficiently on multiple processors.
"C for low-level/system programming,
Python for everything else."
