This is not hard to do. Actually, my excitement was
because umbrello supports software development with
dynamic as well as static uml diagrams. Umbrello is
also much more integrated with kde in general and it
is quite focused for software modelling - not general
diagramming like dia.

True, but if I wanted to do this, I'd rather write my
own uml tool with its own generator. Cobbling stuff
together is fine for quickies but I don't find it
comfortable to use jury-rigged setups for long term...

Hmm...actually, I had been thinking about doing such a
thing myself. On more than one occasion - maybe it's
time I got off my arse and did something about it. :-)
