[ossig] Jaring wireless broadband?

Just got this in the internal mail. I know you guys like to
discuss broadband. Answer to Malasyian broadband woes or
just another broadband paper launch?

"Malaysians could soon be on the fast track to Internet broadband,
plucking the service from the “air” like a television station,
via a self-installed wireless service. This has been made possible
with JARING’s successful completion of its three month “live”
trial deployment of US based SOMA Networks’ broadband wireless system."

I somehow doubt we'll all get 12Mbps. Just how much bandwidth
is there in the electromagnetic spectrum? According to the SOMA
web page, "one base station typically covers 30 square miles or more"

Here's some more technical spec

Maybe Dinesh will know :)
