The problem with the one world, one price policy for a linux
distribution is that it ignores the cost of labor difference in each
country. The main value in buying a licensed linux distribution is the
human support but if you are charging US prices in a third world
country, you're pricing yourself out of the market. The traditional
software model isn't as sensitive to this.
For RM10k for the advanced server, I would honestly rather get a
technical specialist who knows what he's doing and have him install
Debian stable or something of the sort. If I have several servers then
the math gets even more appealing.
