Wow, I am participating to a thread that the threaded view of evolution
is pushed too much to the right (well, 1024x768)... Who is to kill the
thread?
A transparent proxy will identify requests to Web servers (on the
network level!) from your computer and will redirect them to the cache
proxy. Whether you configure your browser to use the cache proxy or not,
your requests will go through the cache proxy. In many ways this is good
for speed up and other issues well discussed in books and online.
To find your Internet IP address when you connect to broadband you can
point your browser to http://192.168.1.1/ (ZTE ADSL modem, or any
similar URL for your ADSL modem) and check for the "IP address" under
WAN Interface.
