in that case, if it were to happen, though the box, binaries and all
parts of it are google property, google has to grant a license to the user
to _use_ the binaries. in that regard, if that _license_ is not an OSS
license, google needs to pony up mysql license fees for each copy of the
mysql server in all the appliance boxes.

even if you dont pay for it and cant access the sources, no software is
license free. there is an unstated minimum right to use in all cases.
