Re: [ossig] can the ossig community help to do something +ve ?

Great, thank's for the link.

The name of the corporation "Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia"
would make Richard Stallman shudder. I tried asking him a question whether
the FSF, or a new foundation, should move into promoting the
freedom of the wider issue ntellectual property now the war
on freedom of software was already being won. Stallman only heard
'intellectual property' before giving me his 5 minute prepared speech on
why it was a dangerous term. When I had a chance to elaborate later,
he said that freedom in software still needed nurturing, and that was his
area of expertise anyway.

I agree totally on the k-economy. The mgmt of MIMOS is also, I believe,
very
much behind what you say and support open source and openness in
general as a way to achieve a k-economy. The difficulty is spreading
the word
wider, and getting others past the 'releasing something is throwing away
profits'
mentality. Intellectual property means giving the author the freedom to do
what they want. Maybe MIPC is heavily influenced by WIPO?
