i'm sure GPLv2 will be compatible with GPLv3, hence the kernel can
continue, even if the other authors of it do not migrate to v3. what you
will get, if that were to happen, is a kernel with some parts licensed
under v2 and some parts under v3. but the point i was trying to make is
that v3 will prevent those from modifying the binary, deploying it for
public use (but not distributing) and not allowing access to the source.

ok, we'll agree to disagree on this. even the blog imran posted quoted
that the salesguys were incongruent with senior managements, i.e the
founders of the company, in the spirit of things.
