i'm not too sure. jumping into every thing which is new is not a sign that
they will succeed at it.

no, i'm not. we're talking of innovation/invention here, arent we ? so,
even bringing together existing modular pieces to create something not
done before is innovation/invention. isnt this then a new product ?

which linux ? there're tens of them at last count.

the BSDs are together, with each strain engineered for it's speciality, as
you've mentioned above. code base, architecture and the like are similar
enough that interop is not really a problem. the problem is more in the
politics of the whole thing rather than anything else. theo de raadt comes
to mind.
