[ossig] Reliable Mail Server - Or Not So ...

Was astonished to see the discussion dying down so fast - so I thought.
But it was only the regular unexpected - sorry, rather expected -
fortnightly downtime of Uniten's AV-Filter-MTA that made me think so.
Lucky you, I didn't get any mail and therefore didn't feel compelled to
answer. Now there are some 15 mails in the archive
(http://www.mncc.com.my/ossig/lists/general/2004-05/index.html) that
never made it into my mailbox. And now its too late to answer in detail.
The proprietary - scratch - billg IV - innovation thingy is a
misunderstanding, so nothing lost. The tiny wiggly arms much too short
to see them, neither with a magnifying glass nor a microscope. No loss
either. Any comment to the ever larger growing gaps between the BSDs
might have been perceived as flame, after all. The same applies to any
statement about Theo de Raadt.
I agree fully with RIS on his rights on his three modules. My only
contribution here would have been to recommend Lawrence Lessig's
presentation about Copyrights (almost an hour, download > 30 MB); simply
an intriguing piece of everything; but even that wouldn't have been
mine. So, still no loss. SCO could not have patented Unix, but this is
an aside, still.

The only relevant thing left to mention: Thanks for the efforts to bring
some points into a Wiki or similar; that's phantastic. 99% of the
population have a wrong understanding of the basic concepts here; and
this includes developers and OpenSource activists. It is a laudable
effort to bring a basic structure into at least the basic perceptions.
(The percentage in the developed countries could be guessed to amout to
98% to have 'weird' ideas about this field.)

Thanks to all contributors !

Uwe

P.S.: http://riscniaga.netfirms.com/contact.html - this link right hand
side on the home page - is a 404. Maybe you want to look into this.
