[ossig] dot MY ISP cooperation
read the case at http://www.cs.wisc.edu/~plonka/netgear-sntp/
after reading it, it got me wondering. if something like that had
happenned to a malaysian organization, i.e. USM, UM or any other, how much
would our local ISPs cooperate in resolving the issue ? will they have
anyone who can technically assist, without having to wait 3-4 days ? will
they allow the solution as proposed in Endgame B be implemented for the
betterment of all, since it requires access to their edge and border
router locations ?
i'm not too sure the answers to all the questions above are YES. and as
long as it isn't YES, we will not be in a position to be "world class" in
internet infrastructure.
off topic perhaps for myoss and mncc-ossig, but on a sunday morning with
still tons of research papers to read, i needed to get something off my
chest.
p.s. the situation wont happen in malaysia at the moment because none of
our servers here provides a service which the internet community at large
takes seriously anyways. :)
