Re: [ossig] Firefox anyone

I have tried Mozilla as well as Firefox and Thunderbird.

The trouble with Firefox and Thunderbird is that they break
the tight integration between browser and email client,
unless you are willing to hand-edit some scripts.

This is important in 2 places:

1) URLs in emails
2) mailto: links in web pages.

I didn't find Firefox significantly faster than Mozilla, on Linux
with a decent spec machine (Athlon 2000+, 512Mb or more
of memory).

One thing I tried recently is the 'adblock' extension -
it's fast to install, and if you have a dialup connection,
you get pages loading so much faster without all the adverts.
It's much more powerful than the simple 'by domain' blocking
that comes with Mozilla. You can block using a regular expression.
Of course, there are moral reasons why you might want to
leave the adverts running for your favourite web sites, if
they rely on adverts for revenue.
