well said !

when i was in worldcare, i had four people in our engineering team. the
four were: a solaris engineer, a windows engineer, a cisco/network
engineer and a systems integration engineer. these four handled about 200
servers and 50 odd network devices in 42 locations across the country. all
four had >5 years experience in their fields and were hands-on in the true
sense of the word. all were paid about 20% above average rates. i got all
of them certified by the respective organizations (microsoft, cisco and
solaris) over the period they were working for me.

i use the term engineer in the truest sense of the word, my boys were not
mere admins. they also assisted me in engineering development of our
software. they also assisted in putting together proposals to the health
ministry, in many cases doing it on their own.

finding competent engineers is not easy, but they do exist in malaysia.
the trick is to weed them out from the chaff and to make sure that they
are well rewarded (financially and career growth) in their work.
