Here is what i have done:
1. (Note: On the time where the server could not contact the
GW. Contact here means ping the GW.) First, the system boots
up. Observer that there is no error message in the boot up
sequence.
2. Did a "ifconfig" and the NIC is assigned with a correct
static IP.
3. Tried to ping the GW. No response...
4. Flushed firewall by going /etc/init.d/iptables stop.
5. Ping again... No response...
6. Did a tcpdump -i eth0 on interface. See regular net
traffic in network.
7. ping own IP. Positve response...
8. ping GW again no response...
9. Rebooted...
10. Normal boot up with no error messages...
11. Ping GW... Now it works.
12. Reboot...
13. Normail boot up with no error messages
14. ping GW... GW no response.

I restart the network too and it stills exhibit the same
problems.
