RM70 (I think so) per license to use ALL Microsoft desktop products.
This should include the Windows OS until all software that is not
considered as "backend" or server. Also RM10m worth of free Microsoft
training when government buy the software for the schools.
Do you own math: If government license all the desktop in the country
for each school (we have 10,000 schools in the country), assuming only
50 license per school (per PC, no per students...). This is about RM35m.
Minus the RM10m training, government need to spend RM25m. Not in one
year, but 3 years (may be 5... check newspaper).
I don't know how to look at the catch. Can anyone tell? Yeah, there is
no "server". Will this considered as a catch?
But I do hope one thing is that, whatever Microsoft Malaysia try to do,
please note that you are Malaysian too, you have children, and you need
to care for our younger generation's need. The deal must benefit our
future generation and pave a good path and build a right environment for
them to know the technology. We need them to create products, not be
consumer. Time is too short for most of us to realize something
important need to do. But I wish I am 10 years younger and have 30 fingers.
I believe I have talent in IT. And I made a difference with Open Source
Software.
Thanks.
