Woah. Hold on a minute. 2.7? There is no 2.7. There isn't going to be
one for a while (subject to change of course if Linus has another mood
swing). But as of yet, there is no 2.7. Linus and akpm are doing the
"test-in-Andrew's-tree-and-merge-into-mainline" routine, and it was
pretty much decided upon during Kernel Summit in Ottawa as the way
they will run things for the time being.

However, when 2.7 does come out eventually, the kernel guys are going
to have a field day throwing in crazy stuff, breaking things left and
right. I'm not sure it's such a terribly good idea to be so bleeding
edge. Since there are no immediate plans for 2.7, I cannot fathom what
the rationale is for wanting to use an unstable branch for a distro
release.

I think you can. Nobody cares much anyway. I know Linus doesn't. Ok
maybe Prof Stallman does, but I don't think it matters that much. In
any case you'll probably still want to use GNU's compiler (gcc). *puts

I don't think licensing has anything to do with what you want to call
your product, be it GPL-based or BSD-based. AFAIK you can call it
anything you want, as long as you make the proper attributions.

I think Debian has a Linux/BSD hybrid, as well as these folks :

NetLSD looks pretty dead though.
