Flame you for speaking the truth?
You forgot to include the KomNas PC from Hicom Technologies which I
found a good, self-contained, Linux PC with a very intuitive user
interface but it did not seem to have taken off.
Government support and national initiatives are great provided they are
properly executed and then will be able to pull the private sector
along.
However, when this core is in a mess, with conflicting and incompetent
interests at play, all that's left to hope for is good private
innitiatives on the periphery.
Time will tell but between China and India, I believe China will
eventually emerge the winner due to the strong, concerted government
support for the technology industry, while India has brillinat
individuals but a chaotic government sector.
BTW. Just heard that Singapore's National Trade Union Congress
(www.ntuc.org.sg) has introduced Linux PCs through its Fairprice
supermarkets and i-Office outlets about three months ago.
I'd like to see how successful they are in terms of consumer acceptance.
With Singapore track record for efficiency and transparency, I believe
NTUC's project could succeed where others in the region have failed.
