Technology entrepreneurs are alarmed at changes to various industry 
funds and grants proposed by the Government recently. 

In an interview with a local business weekly last month, Science, 
Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Jamaluddin Jarjis said that a 
restructuring exercise was afoot for ICT-related funds such as the 
Multimedia Super Corridor R&D Grant Scheme (MGS), Demonstrator 
Application Grant Scheme (DAGS) and Cradle Investment Programme (CIP). 

Two major changes were mentioned: Grant recipients that achieve 
commercial success should pay back the grants; and that recipients share 
ownership of intellectual property resulting from Government-funded R&D 
projects.
