With all due respect; I do run some multi-boot (as much as I hate the OS 
on the first partition); and XP boots faster and works faster (as you 
may guess without tweaking; just out of the box).
This is sorry to say; but this is the case IMHO; and I never noticed 
otherwise.
The greatest offenders are OpenOffice, Firefox and Thunderbird *in 
comparison to M$ Office, IE*.

Before the chaps from the other camp start to yahoo: Since long I have 
honest- and seriously come to appreciate that the Desktops on *nix and 
*BSD are far superior w.r.t. usability and features. This makes - to me 
- more than up for the slowliness.
