for one i dont think anyone has stated what the installest is about;
so your suggestion might be well be taken. :)

follow-up. follow-up. follow-up.  i cannot stress this enough. my
involvement in the 1st two installfests in the pyramid in days gone by
;-) tells me we will need a well planned and executed follow-up
strategy.  Failing which M$ will have a stronger hold on the mindset
of the desktop users.

we need as many "lugs" around as possible (feasibility??) help others
and frankly, i have my doubts. :( as to whether it's possible.

coming to nsh's suggestion, if we target the installfests with
specific apps for the SMI as well, like mail servers, fax servers,
file/print, apps, ect.... it would be easier to manage as the
commercial possibilities will ensure that someone or company will
continue to support the SMIs.

but AFAIK everything's still in the very pre-alpha stage...
