Yeah our students are lazy and complacent. I'll agree with that.

Sure, after all we need to get our tools from somewhere. But it
shouldn't matter what brand of tool we choose, as long as it's the
right one for the job. Usually what "corporate sponsorship" means is
that curriculum should "encourage" the use of certain tools which the
company sells. That's putting the cart before the horse, and a threat
to academic integrity. Check out MS's influence on universities in
E.W. Dijkstra's letter:

"I believe a key to the MS support for our department will be clear
evidence that we are using NT (or related software, e.g. CE). I need
to collect information about your use of NT (or intended use of MS
software) as part of our proposal."
