i have suse 9.1 pro running on a home pc with amd 2200+ processor with 
128mb ram and no vga card (a small casing). imho, it is a little 
sluggish compared to xandros which i had installed earlier. but had no 
problems with playing vcds on suse, compared to xandros (which had 
problems recognising the cd media itself). if you are thinking of 
playing games on the pc, more ram and a vga card is necessary.

last weekend, installed ubuntu-linux on my new notebook which is an acer 
with intel celeron and 512mb ram. appears to be faster than the home pc. 
i have problems playing vcd on it (it uses totem which is supposed to be 
able to play vcd and dvd, but the option to play those media types were 
not available). did not detect my modem automatically. not tested the 
wifi yet. cd burner, usb, ethernet were okay.

both were easy to install.
