Check out www.distrowatch.com for more information of various distros..
Personally, I'd recommend SimplyMEPIS.. Try www.mepis.org, a Live CD
Distro based on Debian, that you can run it off the CD for testing, and
if you like it, you can install it onto the harddisk..
At least, if you don't like it, you do not have to install it, and
convert the Live CD into a coaster/freesbee/whatever... :-P
