[ossig] Books on PHP and MySQL
I'm thinking of setting up a website with PHP and MySQL on a shared host
provided by the web hosting sites.
I would like to buy a book to learn with more in-depth but the breakneck
speed that OSS is moving makes the synching of the books on the market
and what web hosts are providing rather difficult.
Most books are now PHP5 and MySQL 5, but most hosts I found are using
PHP4.3 and MySQL 4. I think the websites would find it risky to be
continuously updating their software and break the clients' scripts,
etc. I couldn't find cheap hosts with updated software.
Should I pick up PHP5 and MySQL5 books and try to make my sites
backwards compatible, or try to find older books? Any advise?
