Not much that I can do there, obviously. However, on the assumption that you,
or others on the list, do know them then it can still percolate. If the
org/ppl are not on any list, not somehow tenously connected to the community
in any way, then again, *at this point in time*, there's not much that can be
done.

MAMPU's "jurisdiction", such as it were, have always been clear[1], which
covers the public sector only. MAMPU has no authority to dictate policies,
planning or implementation which does not cover the public sector in some
way. This was explicitly manifested in the formation of the (soon to appear,
we hope) National OSS Policy by MIMOS, where MAMPU's "input" was limited only
to the public sector.
Guidelines and instructions for usage by the public sector agencies are
already there. Guidelines for usage for the general public remains tricky,
but it will be raised. The operations of the OSCC may have to be modified to
take into account a more inclusive role, but the process needs to be made
certain on their part.
To a certain extent, MAMPU is dealing with extending and promoting the usage
of OSS not just within the public sector, but to all. It is being done via
the available channels *to them*, as a public sector unit responsible for the
public sector. These channels include the outward facing Ministries and
agencies, e.g. MOSTI, MEWC, MOE, MOHE, MIPC and AG's Chambers.
Inclusion of community input can and should be made, but here's the thing that
the community has to think of:
Do we wait for them to approach us, or do we go to them?
yusseri
[1] to them, anyway.
