[ossig] LCA 2005 OpenOffice.org Miniconf - Call For Participation

This is a call for participation in the first ever OpenOffice.org
Miniconf which will be part of the LCA 2005 conference in Canberra.
The Miniconf will be run over two days on the 18th and 19th April 2005
preceding the LCA2005 main conference.

This is the first conference of its type to be held in the Southern
hemisphere and we are looking forward to participants from areas
around Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South-East Asia, India and South
America.

Presentations will be given over the two days and will take on two
major themes for the conference – User and Community, and Development.
Any topic is allowed based around OpenOffice.org, the cross-platform
office productivity suite. Some of the suggested areas of interest for
presentations are:

* Particular features within OpenOffice.org and how to use them
* Case studies showing OpenOffice.org implementation or integration
* Integrating OpenOffice.org into other software packages
* Marketing and promotion of OpenOffice.org
* Community participation and planning
* OpenOffice.org API and languages
* OpenOffice.org macro development
* Localisation and Internationalisation of OpenOffice.org
* Asian and complex language interfaces
* OpenOffice.org and Accessibility
* Porting OpenOffice.org to other platforms and architectures
* Quality Assurance of OpenOffice.org

There will be three types of presentations that can be given on the
days. These are:

1.Conference presentations (30 – 60 minutes) – these are papers or
work based around some feature or interface of OpenOffice.org or its
community.

2.Case Studies (10 – 30 minutes) – these are designed to show people
how OpenOffice.org has been implemented in the real world.

3.Tutorial Sessions (up to 3 hours) – these are how to or pragmatic
sessions such that attendees will come out of a tutorial session with
a good understanding of how to use, solve or accomplish a development
task or implementation of OpenOffice.org.

Sessions time blocks include question and answer time.

Please submit an abstract of your suggested presentation via email to
callforpapers@openoffice.org

For all abstracts, the following information is required:
* Title of Presentation
* Description (no longer than 250 words)
* Targeted Audience
* Proposed Theme ("Development - API" or "General - Accessibility")
* Preferred Session Type (Conference Session or Case Study)
* Full Name
* Email Address
* URL of Home Page (if it should be listed in the program)
* Job Title (if it should be listed in the program)
* Company/Affiliation (if any)
* Postal Address
* Contact Telephone Number (for last minute issues, cell phone number
preferred)
* Short Biography (1 or 2 paragraphs)

Your proposal must be sent before the 4th February 2005 in order to be
considered for inclusion in the conference.

A standard presentation template will be made available on our website
which we recommend that you use for your presentation.

Please note that the OpenOffice.org Miniconf is currently part of the
LCA 2005 main conference held by Linux Australia. This means that you
must register for LCA 2005 attendance to participate in the
