Definitely. Reading things online ain't that fun. But for applied stuff 
like gui toolkits and maturing platforms, technology moves too fast 
rendering the book not as useful two years down the road. Some books you 
definitely need in hardcover (eg C, C++, compiler development, sed and 
awk etc - stuff you know won't really change) but for most of the other 
stuff, I'd never buy a book given that the book itself will be obsoleted 
in a relatively short time. Safari comes in useful here.
