generally the books in malaysia are cheaper, even when compared to
amazon.com. printing is mostly done around this region, and the
distributors have been kind enough to pass on some of the cost savings
to malaysians. however some of the more esoteric/limited publications
are expensive.
nowadays, i tend to stay away from the 1000+ pages book (most of it are
filled with unnecessary lines of codes) - even my economics textbooks
were more interesting. i go for books with about 500 pages with pictures
/ screenshots and pointers/logic on how to get the function working.
what i need is what can/cannot/should be done. this will put my budget
to under rm100 per book. unfortunately, if you are into java - there's
no escaping from 1000+ page books - and series of them too...
i think the potential is for more user-friendly books.
