Re: [ossig] Re: [myoss] Open Source ERP: Compiere

why use compiere ? only if you hate your accountant... has your
accountant seen the data entry screens ?

why use mysql ? only if you don't care about acid compliance.

i've looked at sql-ledger also but the accounting is on a batch-posting
mode... handy if you are handling more than 1,000 transactions a day.
otherwise, real time online data is more fun. this is where acid
compliance becomes critical.

you can also try quasar for accounting which is open source. runs on
linux/windows client and linux database server (best to use firebird as
there are bugs with postgresql). setting it up for the office on a
ubuntu box.

sql-acct, a malaysian proprietary software, is nice and should fit
malaysian business very well. windows client and windows/linux database
server (running firebird or later upgrade to oracle). get a free
download at http://www.sql.com.my/download/ good for 1000 transactions .
while you are there browse the product screenshots, which answers the
question of why there is no comparable open source accounting software
solution yet.

currently, i am using peachtree accounting which runs only on windows,
requires ie 6.0 at least, uses an old btrieve db engine, very slow when
running over norton/symantec anti-virus.. but very efficient when it
comes to accounting.
