finally ! got myself round to installing quasar accounting running on
the firebird database on the suse 9.1 notebook. installation was very
easy - i only needed to change one config parameter (the database
password). in fact, it was so easy that i felt like a fool for not
setting it up 2 months back.

quasar is a client-server application uses qt and can use firebird /
postgresql / sysbase database. the server needs to be on a linux box,
the client can be a linux / windows.

quasar accounting features:
general ledger: chart of accounts, journal entry, payout, transfer
card file: customers, vendors, employees, personal
sales: sales quote, invoices, receipts
purchases: purchase order, vendor invoices, payment, bills
inventory: items, adjustments, transfers (multi-location !)

good enough for any sme company.
