Re: [ossig] Government sector standardize on SuSE Linux?
At the end of the day, what is required by the end-user is a 100% CYA policy. When something breaks down, and management is screaming down their neck- they want to be able to alleviate all blame to a 3rd party and shake their legs in the background.
Yes, they can email <support@redhat.com> or its equivalent, but its much more satisfying to be yanking someone's head off which comes from Novell Malaysia because it is a physical presence rather than virtual. That's why you pay the ridiculous $$$ yearly maintenance fee.
That's why big $$$$ is paid to Oracle.
That's why big $$$$ is paid to Microsoft.
That's why big $$$$ is paid to IBM.
