from what i gather, in 1991, one individual secretly started writing a 
unix-like kernel, and only later announced it to the world. it has since 
become a standing flagship of the OSS movement. what's the name of that 
secret project ? Linux, of course.

while the mag does have some shortfalls, all first efforts do anyways, to 
label it a secret project and thus not worthy of community participation is 
pure pettiness.
