Re: [ossig] MyOSS Magazine - Call for Papers

The truth is that the readership _is_ international and Malay articles
are not going to be read by non-Malay speaking crowd. However, having
said that, the Malay language is also very widely spoken and articles in
Malay would help those who can't speak English (which is a great many
people!).
Let us look at the bigger picture though. Malaysia has always lacked a
strong FOSS community and it is important that we build such a
community. Building a community requires community efforts such as the
magazine and also a requirement that we recognize the diversity inherent
in our cultures and the necessity to build upon the diversity and not
combat/exclude it. If the magazine gets native language article
submissions from Asian countries, then I say go with it and let us help
build an Asian community.
If it reaches the point where non-English articles deserve their own
section or even magazine, then be it so :-) It will only add to the
momentum of the community, not subtract from it.
