This is the 2nd time I've seen it.
To me, looking solely at TCO is stupid (but that's me) when you have to
calculate the training/re-training of personnel who needs to use Linux.
I'm not talking about End-users but more towards IT Admins and
programmers.
How can there be lower TCO if every company has to invest in some form
of training for their employees? (yeah.. although at the end of the day,
there is still some savings, but to the average business, is it big
enough for them to warrant the hassle of the switch??)
What's needed is to target the education sectors & stop them from being
bombarded by "discounts" and "grants" from Microsoft to run their
software and create the next Microsoft Expert.
ps: I know it's hard for the educational sectors since most are cash
strapped and has to find some ways of saving $$. But isn't this what's
happening everywhere?
Start Education! IMHO No amount of Govt "pro" OSS is gonna make a
difference unless there's education at the tiertary level.
